Strength in Community
Government Reform
One thing Americans across the political spectrum agree on is that our government works for the corporations and billionaires who funnel hundreds of millions of dollars into our elections, not for the people it's supposed to serve. My priority will be enacting legislation that will transfer power back to the people, strengthen our democracy, and get corporate money out of our government.
Some immediate steps that I will be focused on are
Limit Supreme Court terms to 12 years. Lifetime appointments concentrate too much power in too few hands for too long.
Repeal Citizens United and get big money out of our politics.
End stock trading for members of Congress. The people writing the rules shouldn't be profiting off them.
We all know something needs to change. I'm ready to stop talking about it and start doing it.
Medicare For All
When I was a child, I was diagnosed with myocarditis, a heart condition that cut off the blood supply to the lower half of my body and left my family in medical debt that persists to this day. No working-class family should have to decide between rent or food because someone needed medical care.
We live in the wealthiest country on earth, yet we’re still burying American families in mountains of debt they may never recover from. There’s a more cost-effective and humane way to provide critical medical services and it’s by utilizing a program we already have: Medicare.
By increasing the tax on the top 1%, including the introduction of an unrealized gains tax, we can begin to adopt a Medicare-for-All system. This would alleviate the financial burden on families by transitioning away from high-cost, private plans and remove the administrative bloat that drives up costs without improving care.
Through a phased rollout based on age and need, we can responsibly expand Medicare coverage and move toward a system that matches the work ethic of the American people. We are among the hardest working people in the world. We deserve a healthcare system that reflects that.
Immigration
America is a nation of immigrants. Our immigration system should honor that history, not be wielded as a militaristic force.
When elected, I will work to expand our immigration courts and fight for a genuine pathway to citizenship. Those who follow the legal process deserve a system that is fast, fair, and treats them with dignity.
That also means confronting what's broken in enforcement now. ICE and CBP operate without any oversight or accountability, detaining people in conditions hidden from public scrutiny. I will abolish ICE and CBP in their current form and restructure immigration enforcement so that it operates under the law, answers to the people, and is subject to real congressional oversight.
I grew up believing that if you are more fortunate than others, build a longer table not a taller fence. I intend to bring those values into Congress.
Reproductive Rights
Reproductive rights are healthcare. Full stop.
No woman should be denied a life-saving surgery for a nonviable pregnancy. It is not the government's job to decide who is eligible; that decision belongs to the affected individual and their health care provider.
The overturning of Roe V. Wade was one of the worst decisions by the Roberts Court and a stain on SCOTUS’s reputation. It has led to dark, preventable outcomes for American women and made it painfully clear that we need to codify reproductive rights into law.
When elected, I will doggedly pursue legislation that cements abortion rights at the federal level, as it always should have been, and give my full support to every organization working toward that goal.
Your body, your choice. Always.
Climate Change
Climate change is not a future problem; it's a current reality. Seasons are already growing more erratic, sea levels are rising, and ecosystems we depend on for survival are disappearing.
Our government has been stagnant on the transition to renewable energy. When elected, I will pursue implementing the Green New Deal at every possible turn. We need to build a sustainable future to leave behind for our children and grandchildren.
The Green New Deal would reorient our production away from fossil fuels and toward solar and wind energy, providing communities with dwindling job markets new opportunities while building out the infrastructure needed to cut emissions across the country.
It would also address a pressing national security issue. Despite record domestic oil production, our energy prices are still dictated by a volatile global market, exacerbated by this administrations reckless adventurism. As long as we remain tethered to fossil fuels, our economy is at the mercy of supply chains and conflicts that we can't control.
The Green New Deal creates jobs, protests our planet, and frees us from energy vulnerability, all at once.
Trans Rights
The right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness are inalienable rights that this country. That includes the transgender community, with no exceptions.
When elected to office, I intend to push for legislation that actively cements the right to free expression and keeps the government from interfering with bodily autonomy. That means protecting access to gender-affirming care, establishing federal recognition of gender identity, and ensuring access to military service.
Our transgender communities are faced with constant attacks on their rights and endure threats to their lives, simply for existing. I am in this fight with you and my support will extend past policy making and lip-service. If a spotlight is needed, vocal support required, or hands-on aid called for, I’ll be there.
Education Reform
I found my love for education in the academic environment of community college. The curiosity, intelligence, and drive my peers pushed me to work harder than ever before. It’s with those experiences in mind that I want to push education policy forward in Congress.
The path forward starts by paying our teachers, the cornerstone of American education, the wages that they deserve. If we can find the money in the budget to fund wars overseas, we can find enough to fairly compensate the people shaping our children's futures. Beyond this, we need to close the funding gaps that leave some districts dilapadated while others thrive. Every child deserves a well-resourced classroom, regardless of their zip code.
When elected, I will work with local and national leaders in education to fight for equitable funding and give teachers the respect and resources they deserve. Education is the foundation of a healthy democracy and it’s time to start treating it as such.
Artificial Intelligence
AI is already reshaping our economy at a pace Congress has not begun to understand, let alone regulate. While a handful of tech billionaires race to build an industry that could displace millions of workers, our government has done nothing to ensure that working families see any of the benefit. I don't believe we should continue to allow our economic future to be dictated by the same oligarchs who have already shown they'll prioritize profits over people.
When elected, I will support a moratorium on new AI data center construction until Congress passes comprehensive legislation that protects American workers, consumers, and communities. We also need real protections against AI-driven job displacement, thorough review of AI products and impacts, and safeguards ensuring that data center expansion doesn't drive up electricity costs or devastate local environments. Unfettered construction of data centers rammed through over the objections of the people who have to live next to them needs to end.
The wealth generated by this technology cannot be hoarded by the few. If AI is going to transform how we work, how we communicate, and how our economy functions, then the American people deserve a seat at the table, not just the bill. This is too consequential to leave in the hands of billionaires writing their own rules.
